A Good Exhibition: but the Wrong Kind of Art

I met a couple of art specialists and we were discussing the major problem with my art which is I have zero income. That includes my exhibition in the residence I live in. This exhibition has been very much instrumental in upgrading the clientele and the reputation of the house.  However, it has been years I have been working on it and there has been a lot of time and money spent on it with no income. time is passing and I am growing older.  I wondered why and the first thing I came up with is that I knew quite clearly that the work I was exhibiting was not of the kind that was commonly taken as "serious" in prestigious homes and exhibitions that I saw.  Since I had no money I knew that my place to get that kind of art would be in quality prints, more specifically old books found in thrift shops and the like. But a better opportunity would come up.

For some reason, not too long after the conversation with the specialists, I was contacted by a good and qualified patron of the arts who was terminally ill.  She had painstakingly collected some very important magazines throughout her life and being enamored of them, she kept them for a long time.  She had no one close to her who was particularly interested in her magazine collection and she had no desire for the same old people around her to get rid of these treasured possessions. She told me she was going to bring them down to our place and leave them on the community table for the residents and all who pass it.

As is quite common with high art literature many of the magazines contained controversial if not lurid articles. But not all.  I did not manage to collect most of the mags but I did score a few. I clipped out two kinds of images. Ones that were for my own collection and another kind that would be suitable for the Valuable Gallery exhibit.

I have them in my archives at this point. But for me to develop them on the floor of the house I would need definitely some financial backing, at the very least. After that happened, then I would need also definitely some input from the residence as to what they would consider appropriate. Right now the subject for the floor is birds and musicians. The Valuable Gallery: Sunshine Space, is in a hallway of a woman's shelter and is dedicated to diverting and calming the residents as they go back and forth to their own rooms and mission. I need no hostilities from either residents or artists as regards to an unpopular choice of art. Having said that, I do believe that these works are indeed if a style that would be marketable to the population of collectors. Having taken that into account, I am again thinking of all the work that has been put into the gallery. It adds up to a time and energy strain as well.

All these works were collected from a magazine of a distinguished patron of the arts.  Are these also irreplaceable? and thus unsellable. If so my situation of personal poverty will remain unsolved and time is getting closer to traditional retirement age.
